Tides of Time unlimited health and air code a fake?

A bunch of cheat sites have a code for Tides of Time to enable unlimited health and air, activated in a similar way to the debug menu.
The code is reported as follows:
Pause when Ecco is facing the screen and press A B Right A C A Down A B Right A. (ABRACADABRA) When unpaused Ecco will have unlimited air and health.
It appears to be nonsense, I gave it a go on US and PAL versions and it didn't work. Bo102010 checked the code for the US version and didn't find anything.
Before I wipe it from Sega Retro, just wondered if @Moduvator or anyone else here had come across it or anything similar?
